Data Sources

Last updated: May 2026

Race Marks displays weather, tide, and marine observation data from third-party public-data providers under open-data licences. Full attribution and provider details are listed below and surfaced inside the app where the data appears. Data providers are subject to change periodically as we expand coverage and improve quality.

Onboard Instruments

When connected, your vessel’s onboard NMEA-0183 / NMEA-2000 instruments provide live wind, depth, speed, and other readings directly to the app. These readings come from your boat, not a third-party provider, and are governed by the Race Marks Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

Open-data providers supply best-available public information for navigational and planning awareness. Race Marks displays this data “as is” and provides it for informational use alongside official sources of navigation and weather information. Race Marks should not be relied on as a sole source of navigational or weather information at sea. Always cross-check with official forecasts, charts, and on-board instruments, and follow the guidance of qualified mariners and your race officer.

Changes

We periodically review providers for data quality, geographic coverage, and licensing alignment. Where a provider is changed or added, this page will be updated and the in-app credits updated alongside the next release.
